Eastern basketball secures considerable Homecoming wins over Penn Valley College and Central Baptist College


WILBURTON (Nov. 10, 2014) – The Mountaineers and Lady Mountaineers of Eastern Oklahoma State College were victorious during homecoming games on Saturday as they both maintained a 20 point lead over their opponents for the majority of the night.

The Lady Mountaineers faced the Lady Scouts of MCC-Penn Valley College from Kansas City, Mo. Eastern established an early double-digit lead and gave little room for Penn Valley to score during the contest.

Ayanna Holtz led the team with 21 points and six rebounds. Asia Booker accumulated 16 points along with four steals. Tanjunique Ajeto stole the ball four times and had 11 points for the night. The Lady Mountaineers won 77-44, increasing their record to 3-0.

The Mountaineers had a similar outcome as they competed against the Central Baptist College Mustangs of Conway, Ark. Eastern came grabbed lead in the first half. During the second half, the Mustangs narrowed the difference to 10 points, but the Mountaineers quickly adjusted and won the game by a comfortable lead of 119-98.

The top performers for the men were Oshey Washington with 22 points and Kanaan Jackson with 21 points. The men are now 2-0 for the season.

The Mountaineers will face Dallas Diesel on Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. in Wilburton while the Lady Mountaineers will travel to Paris, Texas to compete against Paris Junior College at 6 p.m.
