Eastern students visit State Capitol for Higher Education Day
WILBURTON, OK (Feb. 12, 2014) – Eastern Oklahoma State College students and staff joined hundreds of other college and university students Feb. 11 for the annual Higher Education Day at the State Capitol.
Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education Chancellor Glen Johnson led the event in the House chambers. Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, Senator Clark Jolley, Representative Harold Wright and State Regents Char James D. Harrel also addressed the attendees.
As Chair of the state’s Council of Presidents, Eastern President Dr. Stephen E. Smith also made remarks. Several students from various colleges and universities spoke about the important role higher education plays in their lives, as well as the state’s economy.
Eastern students attending the event included Amy Davis of Clayton, Ronan Cloud of Sawyer, Brittany Gilbert of Wetumka, Steele Rasmusson and Casey Citty of Haworth, Keifer Shearer of Broken Bow and Sarah Shero of Hartshorne.
