Eastern to host first home soccer game Saturday against Pratt Community College
WILBURTON, OK (Sept. 1, 2015) – Eastern Oklahoma State College will host its first home soccer games of the season Saturday, Sept. 5 in Wilburton.
Lead by Head Coach Irving Peralta, Eastern will face Pratt Community College. The women will play at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m. This is the second year of Eastern’s soccer program.
The Mountaineer men’s and women’s teams kicked off the 2015-16 season on Aug. 24 against Ranger College, in Ranger, TX. The men are currently 1-1 overall and the women stand at 1-2 early in the season.
This year’s teams are again a very diverse group. Countries represented on the rosters include Brazil, Scotland, England, Australia, Paraguay, Ghana, the Czech Republic and the Bahamas. With players hailing from Oklahoma, surrounding states and all across the globe, the basis for soccer’s nickname, “The World’s Sport,” is apparent even in Wilburton.
The Mountaineer men’s team will play home games on Sept. 5, 15, 22, 29 and 30; and Oct. 7, 17, 18 and 23. The women’s home games are the same as the men’s for the month of September and additional games are scheduled for Oct. 17 and 23.
