Eastern’s Janet Wansick named associate vice president
WILBURTON, OK (Oct. 9, 2013) – Eastern Oklahoma State College has named Dr. Janet Wansick associate vice president of Academic Affairs. Her new role will involve a variety of analytic activities in institutional research, including data gathering, evaluation and reporting on information related to the college’s environment and performance.
“Dr. Wansick has demonstrated outstanding leadership at the McAlester campus and within the McAlester community,” said Dr. Karen Harrison, vice president for Academic Affairs. “Her involvement and support of economic development in McAlester will continue and we look forward to her expertise in data analysis to support Eastern’s strategic goals for student success.”
Wansick will direct the data collection, interpretation, reporting and archiving of institutional data. The information will assist Eastern’s decision-making process and forecasting efforts as the various academic and administrative departments make strategic decisions. She will also assist with assessment activities to improve teaching and learning.
Wansick joined Eastern in June 2011 as the dean of the McAlester campus. She previously taught mathematics at East Central University and Northern Oklahoma College, as well as McAlester Public Schools for 10 years.
Wansick is active in several community organizations in McAlester, serving as a member of the McAlester Public School Board and a board member for the McAlester Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of Pride in McAlester, McAlester Main Street, Pittsburg County Crime Stoppers and Rotary International. In addition, she is also active at the state level serving on the Oklahoma State Regents' Economic Development Committee and as a member of the 26th class of Leadership Oklahoma.
Anne Brooks, also of McAlester, has taken the role of director of Eastern’s McAlester campus. Brooks has worked at Eastern since 2006 and most recently served as an academic advisor.
