Eastern's Linda Morgan named to the NCCEP/GEAR UP Advisory Commission
WILBURTON, OK (Aug. 14, 2012) – The National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP) has named Linda Morgan to the NCCEP/GEAR UP Advisory Commission (GUAC). Morgan will serve a three year term that ends on June 30, 2015.
The incoming GUAC Class of 2015 joins the eight existing members. NCCEP is a non–profit, non–partisan organization dedicated to the fundamental principle that every child deserves an equal chance to obtain a high–quality education. NCCEP establishes community–education partnerships, strengthens research–based college access programs and develops tools and resources to provide educational opportunities for all students.
“We welcome our newest members of the GEAR UP Advisory Commission,” said Nathan Monell, NCCEP Executive Director. “NCCEP relies on the expertise of the GUAC members to inform, guide, and recommend actions for NCCEP on behalf of the GEAR UP community. We are grateful they give their time generously to strengthen the effectiveness of GEAR UP.”
Morgan currently serves as Project Director for Eastern’s GEAR UP grants. Eastern received a six–year, $6.7 million GEAR UP grant in 2006 and a seven–year, $12.8 million GEAR UP grant in 2011. She has been employed at Eastern Oklahoma State College for 27 years. She was an instructor in the Division of Business for 20 years before accepting her current position.
“I am honored to be part of the Commission,” Morgan said. “I think it’s a reflection of the success of the entire Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP team. When you are doing the things right and the right things, people notice.”
