Theatre Eastern to open season with “Gruesome Playground Injuries” Oct. 2-4
WILBURTON, OK (Sept. 28, 2015) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Theatre Department will open its season with Rajiv Joseph’s “Gruesome Playground Injuries.” Performances are set for Oct. 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium.
Director Marshall Carby says the play follows the lives of two childhood friends, Kayleen and Doug, as they compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together over the course of 30 years.
“This play embodies the best elements of contemporary theatre,” Carby said. “This script is full of humor, conflict and heart. It brings to light tough issues that concern our student body and community.”
Carby said the play contains mature language and themes that may not be suitable for young children and described it as similar to a PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America.
The cast of “Gruesome Playground Injuries” includes Austin Graham of McAlester and Kaylinn Dawson of Haileyville. Madeline Kraft of Savanna will serve as an understudy.
Admission is $5 for adults and is free for Eastern students with a valid EOSC ID.
