In the fall of 2007 Eastern reestablished its swine farm operation
after being dormant for nearly twenty years. Following the renovation
of the preexisting farrowing house, nursery, huts, and the construction
of a eight hundred thirty-two square foot feeding floor. Eastern has
begun to produce animals being used in the Animal Science classes,
market hogs to be processed for use by the college cafeteria, and show
projects for 4-H and FFA members.
Prior to viewing the specific pages outlining Eastern’s Swine
Operation, the Agriculture Faculty and Staff wish to take this opportunity
to express our sincere appreciation to the many individuals who have
donated livestock, semen, and equipment which has been of major assistance
in adding swine to our agriculture program.
Additionally, a special thanks to the Oklahoma Rural Rehab Corporation
for providing Eastern Oklahoma State College's Agriculture Division
with a $3000 grant to assist in refurbishing the swine facilities.
