SCHEDULE OF EVENTS & ENTRY GUIDELINES
UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, CONTEST WILL FOLLOW THE STATE FFA
INTERSCHOLASTIC RULES AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE.
Friday, April 11, 2008
Ag Economics, 8:30 a.m., Baker 110. Each chapter may enter
one team composed of three or four members (a team will consist
of the top three scores), and any number of individuals. The
contest will consist of a written test with True/False, Multiple
Choice, and Math Calculations with emphasis on marketing and decision
making. Each contestant must provide their own calculator & No.
2 Lead pencils.
Crops Contest, 8:30 a.m., Baker 112. Each chapter may enter
one team composed of three or four members (a team will
consist of the top three scores) and any number of individuals.
Electric Power, 8:30 a.m., Baker 203. Each chapter may enter
one team composed of three members. Any number of individuals.
Entomology, 9:00 a.m., Student Union Ballroom. Each chapter
may enter one team composed of three or four members and any number
of individuals.
Agricultural Shop, 8:30 a.m., Baker 104 . Each chapter may
enter one team composed of three or four members (a team
will consist of the top three scores); no individuals. Be
sure to bring a No. 2 pencil for the written part of the contest. The
contest will consist of a written exam pertaining to SMAW, GMAW,
Oxy-fuel, shop safety, tool I.D., problem solving, etc. Top
10 teams will advance to skills portion of the contest. All
contestants should bring welding hoods, gloves, safety goggles,
chipping hammer, wire brush and pliers.
Floriculture, 9:00 a.m., Goddard Building. Each chapter
may enter one team composed of three or four members (a team
will consist of the top three scores) and any number of individuals.
Forestry, 8:00 a.m., Sullivan 210. Each chapter may enter one
team composed of three or four members, no individuals. The
contest will follow state FFA Forestry Judging Rules.
Land Judging, 8:00 a.m., Gym, South Bleachers. Each chapter
may enter a maximum of two teams, one junior team and one senior
team. Junior teams are limited to 8, 9, & 10th grade
students; senior teams can be 8th-12th grade students. Teams
are composed of three or four members (a team will consist of the
top three scores), all individuals will be entered into the Senior
Contest.
Meats Judging, 8:00 a.m., Meats Lab. Each chapter may enter
one team composed of three or four members and unlimited individuals. The
Beef Carcass Quality and Yield Grading Card that will be used at
this contest will be available upon request.
Nursery/Landscape, 9:00 a.m., Goddard Building. Each chapter
may enter one team composed of three or four members (a team will
consist of the top three scores) and any number of individuals.
Rangeland, 8:30 a.m., Gym, North Bleachers. Each chapter
may enter one team composed of three or four members (a team will
consist of the top three scores) and any number of individuals.
Poultry, 8:30 a.m., Goddard Building. Each chapter may enter
one team composed of three or four members (a team will consist
of the top three scores), or two individuals if there is no team.
This contest serves as the State FFA Contest and tentative schedule
is as follows:

- Placing class
of 4 dressed turkeys plus reasons
- 10 Broiler
parts for grading
- 10 Broiler
parts for identification
- Patties
- Exterior quality
eggs (cartons)
- Keep and Cull
- Placing class
of past production hens plus reasons
- Interior Eggs
(candling)
- Written test (25 to 30
questions)
Soil and Water Management, 8:30 a.m., Sullivan 104. Each chapter
may enter one team composed of three or four members (a team will
consist of the top three scores) and any number of individuals.

Livestock Judging: 9:00 a.m., Agriculture Complex. Registration
begins at 8:00 a.m. The Livestock Judging Contest will be
divided into Junior and Senior Divisions. The Junior Division
will be 8th, 9th and 10th grades; the Senior Division may be 8th
- 12th grades.
One team per division composed of three or four students plus any
number of individuals may be entered by each school. There will
be eight classes of livestock with oral reasons given on three
or four classes.
