DEPARTMENT
Horticulture is one of the most rapidly
growing fields of the decade. Due to increasing population
and environmental awareness, the demand for skilled personnel
to manage our natural resources is ever-increasing. Horticulture
is an area of agriculture concerned with the production, care,
and marketing of high-value food and aesthetic crops requiring
intensive management practices.

Career
Opportunities
Career opportunities in horticulture include plant
production, marketing, research, teaching, cooperative
extension, horticulture therapy, landscape maintenance,
golf course superintendents, athletic field management,
park managers, and sales and field representatives for
the many companies providing services to the agriculture
industry.
Students with a good background in agriculture or the
biological sciences and chemistry who enjoy working with
plants will find horticulture to be a rewarding career. Students
at Eastern have the opportunity not only to study theory,
but to experience hands-on learning in our 2,400 square-foot
greenhouse and 20 acres on our college campus. |
