Louisiana State Fair
October 27, 2008

The Eastern Oklahoma State College Livestock Judging Team won the Louisiana State Fair Contest Pro-Division in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 27, 2008. The team included four of the five high sophomore individuals overall.  The members are listed accordingly as ranked first through fourth; Chris Whitley, Katie Caudill, Sabrina Meeks, and Chelsea Coffman.


Tulsa State Fair Contest
October 4, 2008

The Eastern Oklahoma State College Livestock Judging Novice Team won the Tulsa State Fair Contest held on October 4, 2008.  With a combined team total of 3373 points Eastern finished ahead of Connors State College by thirteen points’s to win the title.    Along with the team championship there were also several individual awards brought home listed below. In addition to those there were several other species and reasons awards. This was a great accomplishment for a very talented group of individuals. 

The team consisted of:

  • Justin Frailey, Mannford; OK: 5th High Individual Overall
  • Kirk Vickrey, Minco, OK; 8th High Individual Overall
  • Tara Maye, Haworth, OK

  • Megan Olvera, Texarkana, AR; finishing just out of the top ten
  • Whitney Keeling, Farmington, AR
  • Andy Harvill, Parigould, AR
  • Lakesha Hawkins: Madill, OK

Tri-State Fair, Amarillo, Texas
September 13, 2008

The Eastern Oklahoma State College Livestock Judging Team participated in its first competion of the fall semester. The Tri-State Fair Livestock Judging contest was held on September 13th, in Amarillo, Texas. There were more then 150 students in attendance and over 15 schools represented. The following students received recognition in the competion.

  • Shane Smith:  High Individual Overall, 3rd Beef, 1st Swine, 3rd Reasons
  • Andy Harvill:  2nd High Individual Overall, 5th Beef, 8th Swine, 3rd Sheep

  • Megan Olvera:  10th High Individual Overall, 10th Beef
  • Tara Maye:  9th Beef, 5th Reasons

Dixie National, Jackson, MS
February 9th, 2008
Dixie NationalsEastern Livestock Judging students receive the High team award in Market Cattle at the Dixie Nationals. The team scored a total of 1133 points to edge out Blinn College and win the division.

Louisiana State Fair
October 29, 2007

Eastern Oklahoma State College livestock judging team placed second at the Louisiana State Fair held in Shreveport, La, October 29 finishing just seven points behind Coffeeville Community College, Coffeeville, KA, and some 54 points ahead of third place Redlands Community College, El Reno.

The Wilburton community college team took first in the sheep, second in swine and beef and third in reasons.

"This team is just a few breaks away from an incredible victory," says judging coach Todd Blocker. “Our students did an outstanding job at a very tough competition.”

The following individuals placed in the top ten at the Louisiana State Fair.
