Eastern's Business Division offers excellent educational programs and this can be confirmed by the success of its graduates.

Careers in business command good salaries and opportunities for advancement.

The reasons for student success in Eastern business programs are numerous. Faculty strive to assist students in the development and attainment of career goals. The programs focus on the skills required to manage new technologies and information systems.

The programs provide an environment that is conducive to the learning process, and this environment is accomplished through small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a vision by faculty that places quality instruction and personal attention to students' needs as first priorities.

CAREER OUTLOOK

Dramatic changes are taking place in education, and the challenge this environment represents for business teachers is both tremendous and exciting. Computer technology has changed the world. Now teachers must learn to use this technology as an integral part of the school curriculum and provide their students with skills that will give them an edge in the job market.

As future business teachers, you will prepare students to work with technology; cellular phones, voice mail, fax machines, and notebook or laptop computers in a variety of workplaces: the home, the car, the hotel room, as well as the office.

Technology is an indispensable tool, as integral a part of the workplace as the people who work with it.  Students who can work successfully with technology will be employable as well as promotable.  Many considerations go into planning a curriculum that will stay current and relevant in a world where change is the norm.

Business educators will continue to be asked to take a leadership role in implementing the new technologies.  Keyboarding is a critical skill that is now being introduced in earlier grades throughout the country as students begin to use computers at an earlier age.  Business teachers are going to be the key to implementing this early training both for the other teachers and for the students.

Technology is as important to the future of education as good business teachers.
