Eastern students, from left to right, playing coal miners and their wives are (front row): Lauren Helmke, Nashoba; Vanessa Miller, Haileyville; Mike Battiest, Idabel; (back row): Gus Palmer, Drumright; Christina Bentley, Muldrow; Ashley Wallis, Buffalo Valley; Timmy Clemmetsen, Atoka.

The allegory was written by John L. Britten, a coal mine inspector, in 1932; it is a thrilling call for solidarity amongst the mine workers.
