ADMISSIONS :: Concurrent Enrollment Standards

Juniors and seniors in high school throughout the state of Oklahoma can take college classes and earn college credit while completing their high school diploma. Oklahoma high school seniors are eligible for a tuition waiver for up to six hours per semester, including the summer term after their junior year as well as the fall and spring semesters of their senior year. The waiver covers up to six hours of tuition only per semester. Students are responsible for fees and books. This is a great opportunity to get a jump on their college career while still in high school.

Admissions Requirements

Concurrent high school students must be eligible to satisfy the high school curricular requirements for college no later than the spring of their senior year.  A high school student may enroll in a combined number of high school and college courses per semester, not to exceed a full-time college workload of 19 semester credit hours. For purposes of calculating workload, one-half high school credit course shall be equivalent to three semester credit hours of college work. A high school student must meet the following requirements for admission:

  • The student must participate in the ACT:
*Seniors must have an ACT composite score of 19 and ACT of 19 in the area of enrollment or a 3.00 GPA and a 19 ACT in the area of enrollment.
*Juniors must have an ACT composite score of 21 and ACT of 19 in the area of enrollment or a 3.50 GPA and a 19 ACT in the area of enrollment.
  • The student cannot enroll in zero-level or remedial courses.
  • The student cannot take the COMPASS test.
  • A copy of the student’s high school transcript, ACT scores, current high school class schedule and concurrent enrollment form must accompany the Admission Application.
  • A Concurrent Enrollment Form must be completed and signed by the high school principal, high school counselor, parent/guardian and student.
  • A minimum 2.00 GPA on college course is requires for continued enrollment.

Enrollment Requirements

All concurrent students are required to go through the Registrar’s office before the student may enroll in classes, each semester as long as the student is a high school student.

Concurrent High School Students must submit the following credentials for full-admission and enrollment to the Registrar:

  1. Application for Admissions
  2. High School Transcript
  3. ACT test scores
  4. Concurrent Enrollment Form  (submitted new each semester)
  5. Current High School Class Schedule (submitted new each semester)
  6. Permission to disclose records form. (Optional)

Petitions to Take More Than 19 Hours:

High school seniors may petition to take more than 19 hours each semester if they meet the following criteria: 3.5 high school GPA and 23 ACT.  Letters for petitions must be submitted to the VPAA who will then make a decision on a case-by-case basis. High school juniors are not eligible for petitions.
