Fresh Start Scholarship Program

We at Eastern understand the financial hardship that many residents of Eastern Oklahoma have been facing.  In response to this need Eastern Oklahoma State College has developed the “Fresh Start” scholarship program.  Check out the process listed in the brochure and contact Eastern today so you can begin your Fresh Start!

This program will be open for FY 2010 to any potential student 21 years of age or older who has lost their job in the last six (6) months due to financial hardship of the company or business they were working for.  If eligible the student will receive a $300 tuition waver scholarship ($150.00 per semester for one academic year) to attend college full-time at Eastern.  All awards will given on a first come/first serve basis until allotted funds are used.

Student should apply through the financial aid office by contacting Jennifer Labor.  The potential student must provide verification to Jennifer with either a letter from the company or unemployment receipt that they are eligible under the current criteria.  The potential student will be asked to apply for financial aid through the normal process and will be sent to the registrar’s office to verify that they meet the college admission process.

In the Registrar’s office they will be identified as a “Fresh Start” student and will be asked to complete the necessary paperwork for admissions.  Upon being admitted the student will then contact Sandra Robertson, enrollment counselor who will work with them to choose a plan of study and class schedule.

The Registrar’s office will “track” the “Fresh Start” students throughout the school year.   The Registrar’s office will provide the Dean of Student’s office with a report containing the names, course of study and academic progress for the   “Fresh Start” students.

The Dean of Students will meet with each Fresh Start student to make them aware of the various types of Student Services available in an orientation designed exclusively for them.  They will also meet with the Dean at least one time during each semester to ensure retention and use of services needed.
