Lewark Jr. The Alumni Association has selected Col. William
H. (Bill) Lewark Jr. USAF, Ret., Class of 1955, as the 2008 Hall of Fame
Honoree.
Col Lewark, Class of 1955, is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An outstanding officer /pilot, and superb program manager. Distinguished Graduate of ROTC, earning a Regular Air Force Commission, and serving in the Air Force from 1957 until 1984. A Command Pilot, Col Lewark, flew KC-97s and KC-135s for Strategic Air Command and EB-66 electronic warfare aircraft in Southeast Asia logging over 100 combat missions. Distinguished Graduate of the Squadron Officers School and the Air Command and Staff College Highly effective B-1A Project Manager. Led development of first rocket-ramjet air launched strategic missile. Guided fielding of a 2,000 mile range High Frequency Radar. Led construction of a church Family Life Center and new Clayton library. Secured first ever cabins at Clayton Lake State Park. Primary participant in securing new medical center. Solved severe water supply problem at 2200 bed Baptist campground. Subject Matter Expert for Clayton Airport Project. Served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors for 10 years. Association President 2004/2005. Devised long series of initiatives to improve the Alumni Association.
