King’s One Hit Shutout
Earns Eastern a Split
The 14th ranked Eastern Oklahoma State
College baseball team (21-11) split with Rose State this past Friday
by scores of 3-4 and 6-0. In
game one, the Mountaineers battled back from a 3-0 deficit. In
the top of the 8th inning, the Mountaineers tied the score. Tim
Sogan’s two RBI single with two outs tied the score. Despite
the late inning rally, Rose State got a sacrifice fly in the bottom of
the 9th to win the game. In game two, Blake King tossed a one
hit shutout to lead the Mountaineers. With the win, King raised
his record to 6-1. He also added 9 strikeouts bringing his team
leading total to 69. Chance Gerloff raised his team high batting
average to .398 with a 4-6 performance in the double header. He
also scored two runs, walked, stole a base and drove in a run.
The Mountaineers will take the field again
on Thursday April 6th. They
will host the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith at 1:00 pm. On
Saturday April 8th, the Mountaineers will complete their regular season
series with Fort Smith. They will travel to Fort Smith for a double
header beginning at 3:00 pm.
