Game Review (4-18-06)

Eastern Downs Carl Albert 9-1

DavisThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team downed Carl Albert by a score of 9-1 on Tuesday.  The Mountaineers improved to 26-13 on the season.

The Mountaineer offense pounded out nine runs on 12 hits.  They scored runs in six of the nine innings.  Justin Mitchell, Ryan Davis and Josh Rorex chipped in two hits a piece.  Davis went 2-4 with a double, home run and sacrifice fly.  He led the Mountaineers with three runs batted in.  Tyler Fulps added a two run home run in the fourth inning.

On the mound, Eastern was dominant again.  Derek Edwards picked up his fourth win of the season.  In six innings of work, Edwards allowed just two hits and one run while striking out four.  In his final inning of work, Edwards retired three batters on three pitches.  Kevin Whyte and Joe Noyes combined to finish the final three innings.  They allowed just one hit and struck out three.

The Mountaineers will take the field again on Saturday, April 22nd.  They will host Northeastern A&M College in a Bi-State Conference match-up.  The two teams were in a three way tie for first place heading into this week.  In their previous meetings this year, Eastern swept a double header by scores of 7-1 and 5-2.
