HEAD COACH, Aric Thomas
Game Review (4-24-06)

Eastern Comeback Falls Short

SoganThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team rallied from a 12-2 second inning deficit against Grayson County College, only to fall short 12-8.  The Mountaineers (27-15) scored two runs in the first inning and then surrendered three in the bottom of the frame.  Grayson then capitalized on three Mountaineer errors to score nine runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning.  Carey Crain, Mike Lamb and Josh Miller combined to throw six and one third scoreless innings to give Eastern a chance at a comeback.  The Mountaineers rallied for three runs in the 4th inning, two in the 6th and one in the 7th, but the comeback fell just short.  The offense left 11 runners on base for the day.

Individually, Crain tossed 3.1 innings allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out three.  Lamb tossed a scoreless inning in just 10 pitches.  Miller threw two scoreless innings without allowing a base runner and striking out one.  The three pitchers retired 16 of the last 17 Grayson hitters.  Offensively, Justin Mitchell added two hits and raised his team leading batting average to .369 on the season and Ryan Davis had two hits and drove in his team leading 33rd RBI of the season.

The Mountaineers will take the diamond again on Saturday, April 29th.  They will host Rose State College in a Bi-State Conference double header beginning at 1:00 pm.
