Weekend Preview (3-06-06)

Mountaineers Look to Stay Hot

Click for larger photo of NoyesThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team will play host to three different schools this weekend.  Following an 8-3 win against Murray State on Tuesday, the Mountaineers (9-8) have now won three of their last four and six of their last nine.  Eastern may have the toughest schedule in the country with 30 of its 56 scheduled games against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the pre-season polls.  This weekend the Mountaineers will take on two of those opponents.

First pitch on Saturday will be at 1:00 pm against Marshalltown Community College.  The Tigers will be taking the field for the first time this year.  Last year, with a final record of 33-23, the Tigers finished in third place in the extremely competitive Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

Sunday’s first game will begin at 12:00 pm.  The Mountaineers will take on Kirkwood Community College.  The Eagles (2-0) hail from Iowa and are currently ranked 12th by the NJCAA Division II poll.  Approximately at 3:00 pm or following the completion of this game, Eastern will take on Carl Albert State College.  The Vikings (10-6) are carrying a three game winning streak into Sunday’s contest.
