Mountaineers Rally And Sweep Double Header

EdwardsThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team swept Richland College in Tuesday’s double header.  By scores of 11-8 and 10-8, the Mountaineers improved to 14-8 on the season and now have won six in a row and 11 of their last 14.

In game one, Joe Noyes earned his third victory of the season and Kevin Whyte earned his first save while stifling the Thunderducks bats.  The Mountaineers built an 11-2 lead in the first six innings.  Chance Gerloff, Blake King and Ryan Davis each went two for three at the plate leading the 11 run and 11 hit offensive performance of the Mountaineers.

In game two, the Mountaineers rallied from a 7-4 deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Justin Mitchell and Tim Sogan led the offense with three hits a piece.  Mitchell, Sogan and Kyle Price combined to score six runs and drive in five.  Derek Edwards tossed five innings and only allowed three runs.  Carey Crain earned his first victory by allowing only one earned run and two hits in three innings of work.  Josh Miller threw the ninth and earned his first save of the year.
