Mountaineers Streak Reaches 10

Eastern FieldThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team’s winning streak reached 10 with a double header sweep of Redlands Community College.  The Mountaineers (18-8, 2-0) won by scores of 11-4 and 3-1.  Since February 26th, the Mountaineers have won 15 of their last 18 games.

In game one the Mountaineers scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back.  Ryan Davis led the offensive charge going 2-3 with a double, hit by pitch, a run batted in and two runs scored.  Joe Noyes picked up his fourth win of the season by throwing six innings and allowing only two earned runs.

Derek Edwards turned in a strong performance on the mound to lead the Mountaineers.  Edwards picked up his second win of the year by tossing a seven inning complete game.  He allowed just four hits and one earned run, while striking out six.  Tim Sogan led the way offensively by going 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored.

The Mountaineers will take the field again Friday (3/24).  They will play host to Murray State at 3:00 pm.  On Saturday (3/25), Eastern will host Connors State College.  First pitch for this Bi-State Conference match-up will be at 1:00 pm.  On Sunday (3/26), Eastern will travel to Warner, OK and play Connors again at 1:00 pm.
