Mountaineers Receive Post-Season Awards

Players for the Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team have started receiving post season awards.  Region II is recognized as one of the best baseball conferences in the country.  Six Mountaineers received honors.  Making the First Team were freshman right handed pitcher Blake King (Bishop Kelley High School – Tulsa, OK) and sophomore shortstop Chance Gerloff (Leedy High School – Leedy, OK). 
Second Team honors went to sophomore right handed pitcher Hiarali Garcia (Windsor, Ontario), freshman third baseman Ryan Davis (Edmond North High School – Edmond, OK) and freshman designated hitter Justin Mitchell (Broken Arrow High School – Broken Arrow, OK).  Sophomore Right handed pitcher Joe Noyes (Mount Laurel, NJ) was named Honorable Mention.

NJCAA Region II – Division I – All Region 1st Team
Blake King (Fr) P – 2006 Statistics – (9-3), 1.05 ERA, 13 starts, 6 complete games, 2 shut outs, 1 combined shut out, 86 innings pitched, 40 hits, .141 opponent batting average and 123 strikeouts.
Note: At the time of this post, King led the country in strikeouts, ranked 7th in ERA and was tied for 22nd in wins, despite only ranking 20th in innings pitched.
Chance Gerloff (So) SS – 2006 Statistics – 52 games, .320 batting average, 38 runs scored, 27 runs batted in, 12 doubles, 2 home runs, 24 walks, 16 hit by pitches and 25 stolen bases.
Career Statistics – 105 games, .330 batting average, 78 runs scored, 59 runs batted in, 21 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 50 walks, 29 hit by pitches and 48 stolen bases.

NJCAA Region II – Division I – All Region 2nd Team
Hiarali Garcia (So) P – 2006 Statistics – (6-3), 2.58 ERA, 12 starts, 2 complete games, 83.2 innings pitched, 69 hits, .218 opponent batting average and 89 strikeouts.
Note: At the time of this post, Garcia ranked 15th nationally in strikeouts.
Career Statistics – (12-8), 26 starts, 3 complete games, 162 innings pitched, 158 hits and 161 strikeouts.
Justin Mitchell (Fr) DH – 2006 Statistics – 52 games, .342 batting average, 44 runs scored, 24 runs batted in, 13 doubles, 1 home run, 29 walks, 17 hit by pitches and 18 stolen bases.
Ryan Davis (Fr) 3B – 2006 Statistics – 49 games, .325 batting average, 31 runs, 39 runs batted in, 10 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 walks, 6 hit by pitches and 8 stolen bases.

NJCAA Region II – Division I – All Region Honorable Mention
Joe Noyes (So) P – 2006 Statistics – (6-4), 8 saves, 3.79 ERA, 24 games, 4 starts, 54.2 innings pitched, 59 hits, .273 opponent batting average and 46 strikeouts.
Note: At the time of this post, Noyes ranked 20th nationally in saves.
Career Statistics – (13-5), 52 games, 4 starts, 117.1 innings pitched, 158 hits and 115 strikeouts.

District and All-American Awards will be named at a later date.
