Eastern wins the Juco Fast-pitch Softball Tournament Championship

Eastern beats Connors State in the final game and wins the Championship of the Third Annual Eastern Oklahoma State College Juco Fast-pitch Softball Tournament played in McAlester. Twelve junior colleges from four states participated. Eastern won first, Connors was the runner-up(beating Seminole in a close semi-final game) Crowder Junior College of Neosho, Missouri won the consolation bracket title beating Neosho Community College of Chanute, Kansas.

Eastern is now 17-0. A school record win streak, for the start of a season, in all sports. The Lady Mountaineers now have their eyes on the overall school record winning streak of 26 games set by the 46-5 team in 1998 which finished fifth in the national tournament at Fun Valley in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Eastern's two exhibition games with the Tulsa Eagles set for Sunday, March 5, were postponed to a later date due to the Eagles having several of their players participating with their high school basketball teams in the Oklahoma and Texas State Basketball Tournaments and in other playoff rounds in both states. That date will be set later.

Eastern now plays three home doubleheaders this week, the week before spring break, finishing out the pre-spring break part of their schedule in the Midwest Juco Classic at Arrowhead Park, in Broken Arrow, next Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12. Thirty two teams from six states are entered in that tournament.
