Former Lady Mountaineers Earn Honors

The Lone Star Conference, NCAA Div. II, has announced their All-Conference selections for the 2006 season. Rachael Christian was Named Most Valuable Player, as well as Newcomer of the Year and to the First Team at second base. Rebecca Buirrea was named First Team All-Conference at first base and India Williamson earned honors on the second team at pitcher.

Christian, Broken Arrow high school, and Buirrea, from Glenpool, played for the Lady Mountaineers during the 2004 and 2005 season. Christian was named All-American and First Team All-Region her sophomore year while batting .439 and also hit .426 her freshman year. Buirrea played shortstop during her career in Wilburton. Christian and Buirrea helped lead Eastern to a Seventh Place finish in the National Tournament in 2005.

Williamson, from Skiatook, was 20-5 as a pitcher on the 2004 squad that won 49 games and ranked as high as 6th in the country.
