Eastern Sweeps Western

Batter Hitting against WesternWith its double header sweep of Western Oklahoma State College, the Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team raised its season record to 15-5.  They have now won four games in a row.

In game one, Eastern got out to a 11-3 lead and they held on for an 11-8 victory.  Eastern plated seven runs in the 5th inning.  They were aided by five walks and two errors.  Dearth Parker, Logan Schamburg and Josh Rorex each had RBI singles in the inning.  Offensively, Justin Mitchell, Steve Irvine and Parker scored two runs a piece.  Mitchell also drove in two runs and stole two bases.  Gunner Glad also chipped in with three RBI’s.  Chance Deason improved his record to 4-0 on the season.  He tossed six innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs while striking out seven.  Levi Rhoades finished the game and picked up his 5th save of the year.

Carey Crain, Ashton Mowdy and Derek Kiker combined to shutout Western 6-0 in game two.  It was the second shutout of the season thrown by the Eastern pitching staff.  Crain picked up his 3rd win of the year on the mound.  Josh Rorex and Steve Irvine both had three hits and Russell Boothe added two more.  Every Mountaineer starter had at least one hit in the game.
