2nd Consecutive Split For Eastern

Eastern vs RedlandsThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (21-8) dropped the first game of the double header, with Redlands Community College, 11-5, but came back and won game two 8-5.

In the first game of the double header, the Mountaineers found themselves trailing 3-1 heading into the 5th inning.  With one out, Steve Irvine singled and Dearth Parker doubled.  After another out, Logan Schamburg reached base on an error by the shortstop and both Irvine and Parker scored to tie the game.  However, Redlands rallied for eight runs in their final two at bats.  Eastern scored two runs in their final at bat with Gunner Glad’s 6th home run of the year.  Irvine continued his hot streak at the plate by going 2-3 with three runs scored and he also led off the game with a home run.  Ashton Mowdy (1-1) took the loss on the mound.

In game two, Eastern scored in each of the first five innings to take a 7-2 lead and they never looked back.  Offensively, Dearth Parker (2-4), Gunner Glad (4-4), Carey Crain (2-5) and Bryce Killingsworth (3-4) each had multiple hit games.  Crain hit his 6th home run of the year and Glad hit his 7th home run of the year.  Crain (4-0) also picked up the win on the mound.  He tossed six innings and didn’t allow an earned run.  He surrendered six hits and struck out five.  Derek Edwards, Austin Baker and Levi Rhoades pitched an inning a piece to finish the game.
