Mountaineers
Drop One Against Murray State College
The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (21-9) lost a
7-4 decision on Sunday to Murray State College. In a 3-3
game heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, Eastern took the
lead. With runners on 1st base (Steve Irvine) and 3rd base
(Colby Gibson), Irvine stole 2nd base. The catcher for Murray
tried to throw Gibson out at 3rd, but over threw the third baseman
and Gibson scored. Despite a 4-3 lead heading into the 8th
inning, the Mountaineers gave up four runs in the 8th and 9th innings
and couldn’t plate another run offensively. Dearth
Parker and Gunner Glad each went 2-5. Glad hit his team high
8th home run of the season and it is also his third consecutive
game with a home run. Glad also pitched seven innings and
struck out seven while allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Derek
Edwards (2-3) took the loss in relief.
