Eastern Splits with Seminole Saturday

Pitching VS SeminoleThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (25-17 / 4-8) split with Seminole State College Saturday.  In game one Eastern defeated the Trojans 9-3, but Seminole turned the table 11-7 in game two.

Gunner Glad (5-2) turned in another strong performance on the mound and picked up the win.  Glad tossed his second consecutive complete game and surrendered just single runs in the 2nd, 4th and 7th innings.  The Mountaineers struck for five runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning.  With the bases loaded and one out, Bryce Killingsworth knocked in two runs with a single.  After a misplaced fly ball in right field that scored two more runs, Dearth Parker added a sacrifice fly.  The Mountaineers never looked back.  Parker and Killingsworth both went 2-3 at plate and both of Parker’s hits were doubles.

In game two, the Mountaineers gave up nine runs in the top of the first inning.  They battled back and almost made it all the way back, but they could only close the margin to 11-7.  The bullpen for the Mountaineers stepped up.  Austin Baker, Wes Pool and Ashton Mowdy combined to throw 8.1 innings of relief and only allowed two runs and five hits while striking our eight and only walking two batters.  Offensively Dearth Parker and Chad Price had two hits a piece and Carey Crain had two RBI’s.

For the series with Seminole, the Eastern went 1-3.  Offensively Dearth Parker led the Mountaineers offensively by batting 6-15, three doubles and six runs scored.  Gunner Glad Chipped in with a team high two home runs and nine RBI’s.
