Mountaineer Baseball Player Signs With Kansas Jayhawks
Hiarali Garcia transfers to Kansas University
where he will continue his baseball career. Garcia began
his career at Eastern in 2005 where he started 14 games, going
6-5 with a 5.17 ERA while striking out 72, and walking 32 in 78.1
innings. His Sophmore year Garcia made 12 starts for the
Mountaineers. He finished with a 2.58 ERA, and only allowing
69 hits in 82.2 innings and striking out 89, and walking just 22.
Garcia was an NJCAA All-Region II selection,
a division I All-Region Second Team pick. His Division I
career as a Jayhawk will begin Feb. 1, 2007 in Hilo, Hawaii. Garcia
is slated to be the closer, taking over for Don Czyz.
