MOUNTAINEER BASEBALL Story by Aric Thomas Mountaineers Open Season with Two WinsThe Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team opened the season with a pair of wins at Paris Junior College. The Mountaineers (2-0) won the first game 5-4 and won the second game 8-2. In the first game, freshman pitcher Chance Deason (1-0) picked up the win in his first collegiate start. Deason pitched four strong innings and surrendered just one hit and no runs while striking out three. Levi Rhoades picked up the save by tossing one scoreless inning. Offensively, first baseman, Gunner Glad paced the Mountaineers by going 2-4 with a double, run and RBI. Catcher, Chad Price also collected two hits in three at bats. In game two the offense picked up. Four Mountaineers collected two or more hits. They were Justin Mitchell (3-5), Kyle Price (2-5), Ryan Davis (2-5) and Colby Gibson (2-4). Sophomore centerfielder Mitchell also had a double, three runs, three RBI’s and a stolen base. Sophomore pitcher, Derek Edwards (1-0) picked up the win in four innings of work. |
