Mountaineers Add Two More Come From Behind Wins

The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team rallied to victory, in their final at bat, of both games Tuesday against Paris Junior College.  The Mountaineers (8-2) have now won six games in a row, with the last four being come from behind victories.

In game one, the Mountaineers jumped out to a quick 1st inning 2-0 lead.  But heading into the bottom of the 7th, Eastern trailed 10-8.  With the bases loaded, Justin Mitchell tied the game with a double down the right field line.  In the first extra inning, Dearth Parker came through with the game winning single.  Chance Deason (2-0) picked up the win in relief.  Offensively, Gunner Glad, Carey Crain, Russell Boothe and Dearth Parker each had two or more hits.  Glad blasted his first home run of the year and Parker was 4-4 with two runs scored and 4 RBI’s.

In game two, the Mountaineers again struck early.  In the bottom of the first inning, Gunner Glad, Ryan Davis and Logan Schamburg hit consecutive home runs and the Mountaineers led 5-0 after the 1st inning.  But once again, heading into their final at bat, they found themselves trailing 8-7.  With one out, Glad and Davis got hit by pitches.  Schamburg then drew a walk.  Carey Crain then hit what looked like an inning ending double play, but the second baseman threw the ball away.  Glad and Davis scored to give the Mountaineers an 8-7 lead.  Carey Crain pitched a scoreless 7th inning to pick up his first win of the year.  Josh Rorex went 3-3 at the plate.  Dearth Parker went 2-3 continuing which lifted his total for the day to 6-7 with 6 RBI’s.

The Mountaineers will take the field again Saturday, February 24th and 25th.  They will play in Arkansas City against Cowley County College in a double header starting at 12:00 pm Saturday and a single game Sunday.
