MOUNTAINEER Baseball Story by Aric Thomas Carey Crain Signs with OCU
In two years for the Mountaineers, Crain played in 91 of 105 games. He compiled a career batting average of .308. For the past two seasons, he led Eastern with 21 doubles, 13 home runs and 69 runs batted in. During his sophomore season, Crain anchored the Mountaineer line-up by hitting in the 4-hole. He finished the season with a .338 batting average, 9 home runs and 48 RBI’s. Crain was also a strong contributor on the mound. In two seasons, he appeared in 24 games, 13 of which were starts. He won 6 games, saved 3 more and 97 innings pitched struck out 67 batters. Crain is moving on to one of the best baseball programs in the country. OCU finished the 2007 season ranked 3rd in the final NAIA poll.
