Eastern Shuts Out Independence

The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (10-4) ranked 22nd by the NJCAA and 34th by Perfect Game shutout Independence Community College on Friday.  Gunner Glad (1-0) and Nate Pettus combined on the mound for the nine inning shutout.  Glad went 8.1 innings and allowed just four singles while striking out nine.  Pettus picked up his second save of the year by inducing a double play.  Offensively, the Mountaineers scored one in the 1st inning on a Dearth Parker triple followed by Glad’s sacrifice fly.  In the 5th inning Eastern plated two runs.  With one out Brady White and Casey McCollum hit back to back singles.  Tommie Johnson followed with a RBI double and Steve Irvine followed with a RBI ground out.

The Mountaineers will travel to Northeast Texas Community College this weekend for a Tournament.  On Saturday, the Mountaineers will play North Central Texas College at 4:00 pm and on Sunday they will play Panola College at 10:00 am followed by a 4:00 pm game against McLennan Community College.
