Eastern 2-1 in the Murray Tournament

The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (16-7) and ranked 22nd by the NJCAA, won two of three games this weekend at the Murray State Tournament.  The Mountaineers beat Brown Mackie College, lost to Longview Community College and then defeated Texarkana College.

PLAYERS OF NOTE

PettusChance Deason - Against Brown Mackie, Deason (5-1) picked up his 5th win of the year.  Deason was dominant again on the mound.  Coming off a one hit seven inning performance in his previous start, Deason tossed five innings of no hit ball Friday.  He also added four strike outs.

Nate Pettus - Pettus picked up his 5th and 6th saves of the season.  In two outings, Nate pitched two innings, allowed one hit, one run and struck out three.  Offensively, Pettus was just as hot.  He went 6-9 with a walk and hit by pitch.  All six of Pettus’ hits went for extra bases (3 doubles and 3 home runs).  He also scored three times and drove in eight.  Pettus leads Eastern with 29 RBI’s.

Casey Gibson – Gibson went 6-12 in the tournament and raised his team high batting average to .408.  He also scored four times and drove in five.  Half of his hits went for extra bases with a double, triple and home run.
