Eastern Picks up Two More Wins

gammonsRanked 18th by the NJCAA, the Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team improved to (20-7) by sweeping two games from Southwestern Community College (Iowa) on Thursday.  The first game saw the Mountaineers win by a score of 13-3 and in the second game Eastern won 16-3.

Game one saw Chance Deason pick up his team high 6th win on the mound.  Deason threw a complete game allowing just three runs on five hits.  He also struck out three.  Offensively the Mountaineers pounded out 12 hits and none were bigger than Steve Irvine’s walk off three run home run.  With the home run in the bottom of the 5th inning, the Mountaineers won by a 10 run rule.  Irvine went 2-3 with a walk, home run, three runs scored, three RBI’s and two stolen bases.  Three other Mountaineers had a multiple hit game.  Jeff Scardino and Gunner Glad both went 2-3 and Nate Pettus was 2-2.  Casey Gibson was 1-1 with a home run, three runs scored, two RBI’s, a walk, a hit by pitch and a stolen base.

Game two saw more Eastern offense.  The Mountaineers scored 16 runs on 15 hits.  Three players had multiple hit games.  Steve Irvine stayed hot by going 2-2, with a double, home run, sac fly, hit by pitch, three runs scored and five RBI’s.  Casey McCollum was 3-4 with a double, triple, three runs scored and two RBI’s.  Blake Mounce also went 3-4.  Mounce had two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and three RBI’s.  Gunner Glad blasted his team high 7th home run of the season.
