Steve
Irvine Named National Player of the Week
Eastern Oklahoma State College sophomore
third baseman Steve Irvine was named Ringor/NJCAA National Baseball
Player of the Week for games played March 17th-23rd. Irvine helped the Mountaineers
go 6-0 last week by batting .579 (11-19). His 11 hits were
five singles, two doubles, a triple and three home runs. Irvine
also scored 11 runs; added 11 RBI’s and stole four bases.
Irvine had two walk-off at bats last
week also. In the
bottom of the 9th inning with the scored tied at one against 11th
ranked (Division II) Redlands Community College, Irvine hit a RBI
line drive single to centerfield. Earlier in the week, he
hit a walkoff home run to complete a victory over Southwestern
Community College via 10 run rule 13-3.
Before coming to Eastern, Irvine
played at Tulsa Memorial High School. Currently, he is
being recruited by many schools, but is undecided on where he
will play next year.
