MOUNTAINEER BASEBALL Story by Aric Thomas 16th Ranked Eastern Wins Two and Loses Two against Seminole The 16th ranked Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (32-12 / 7-5) lost the first game to Seminole by a score of 5-6, won the second game 8-7, won the third game 10-4 and then dropped the final game 8-19. On the mound, Chance Deason was the hard luck loser in game one. Deason threw a complete game and allowed just two earned runs in seven innings of work. He allowed just six hits, but a home run led to four unearned runs in the top of the last inning. In game two, Jeff Scardino pitched very well in his first start of the season. Scardino picked up his 1st win of the year by scattering four hits and three runs in seven innings of worked. He also struck out six. Ashton Mowdy overpowered Seminole in game three. He threw a complete game and allowed just four runs and four hits in seven innings of work. He picked up his 4th win of the year. Offensively, Casey Gibson led the way for the Mountaineer offense. Gibson was 7-13 with three doubles, a home run, four runs scored, six RBI’s, two walks and a hit by pitch. Blake Mounce blasted three home runs in the series. Tommie Johnson had two home runs and four RBI’s and Dearth Parker was 5-11 against Seminole. Nate Pettus went 5-14 with two doubles and a home run. Eastern will hook up with Connors State College this week. Tuesday and Saturday the two teams will play in Wilburton at 1:00 pm. Wednesday and Sunday the teams will play in Warner. Wednesday’s game time is 7:00 pm and Sunday’s start is scheduled for 1:00 pm. |
