MOUNTAINEER BASEBALLEastern Sweeps 3rd Straight Double
Header The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team swept a double header from Bacone College’s JV team on Wednesday. Both games were shortened due to a 10 run rule. In game one, the Mountaineers won 12-1 and in the second game the score was 17-5. With the two wins, Eastern has now won seven games in a row and during that streak they have scored 99 runs. Jeff Scardino was dominant on the mound in the first game. Scardino improved to 4-1 on the mound while pitching his second complete game of the year. He threw six innings, allowed just one unearned run on three hits. He also struck out nine. Offensively, the Mountaineers pounded out 13 runs on nine hits. Stephen Hagen was 3-4 with a home run (12th of the year), two runs scored and three runs batted in. Justin Klusak was 2-3 and hit a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning. The grand slam gave Eastern a 10 run rule against Bacone. In the second game, four Mountaineer pitchers combined to hold Bacone to just five runs. Seth Terry picked up his 3rd win of the year. Terry threw just one inning on 8 pitches, but he struck out two. Offensively, Eastern continued its hot streak by scoring 17 runs on 12 hits. Houston Slemp was 4-4 with three runs scored and four runs batted in. Stephen Hagen blasted another home run. It was Hagen’s 13th of the year and 5th in his last six games. Jesse Santo was 2-3 with a triple, run, RBI and stolen base. Cameron Green went 2-3, doubled, scored three runs, drove in one, walked and stole a base. The Mountaineers will take the field again Sunday at Bacone. The two teams will play a double header beginning at 1:00 pm. |
