MOUNTAINEER BASEBALLMountaineers drop a pair on Saturday The Eastern baseball team (24-19-1 / 8-4) dropped two games to Seminole State College on Saturday. Seminole won the first game 12-8 and then won the second game 8-4. In game one, Eastern jumped out to 3-1 lead in the 1st inning. With single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings and two more in the 5th, they held a 7-4 advantage heading into the final two innings. Poor defense helped Seminole rally for three runs in the 6th and five runs in the 7th to defeat the Mountaineers 12-8. Offensively, Casey McCollum and Justin Klusak both had two hits. Each hit a double and home run. Jared Coon started on the mound and threw four innings and allowed three runs while striking out five. Jeff Scardino took the hard luck loss after giving up five unearned runs in the 7th inning. Seminole got out to a 6-0 lead in the first three innings and held on to win 8-4. Eastern scored all four runs in the 5th inning, but they couldn’t put anything together in the other eight innings. The Mountaineers left 10 runners on base. Jesse Santo belted his 14th home run of the year, a two run shot, over the left center field fence. Phil Parcell took the loss on the mound.
