MOUNTAINEER BASEBALL
Eastern Preseason Ranked by Perfect Game
Houston Slemp and Jesse Baird Named
in Top 200 Prospects in the Country
Story by Staff –2/2/10
The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball
team is ranked 50th in the Perfect Game preseason poll. This
marks the 5th straight year that the Mountaineers have been nationally
ranked. The
Perfect Game poll is unique because it ranks every junior college
in the country, regardless of affiliation. Eastern plays
under the NJCAA. The Mountaineers didn’t find themselves
ranked in the NJCAA preseason top 25, however they were one of
10 teams that received votes. Below is the capsule from the
Perfect Game.

Houston Slemp, of (145) |
SCOUTING REPORT: The departure of slugger
Stephen Hagen (.315-29-89), the nation's leading Division
I home-run hitter, is the notable omission on this year's
roster, but the Mountaineers also must totally rebuild their
pitching staff. The transfer of former Oklahoma State RHP
Anthony Trevino and ex-Oral Roberts RHP Andrew Dilling should
help jump-start that effort, though two freshmen arms from
national prep power Owasso (Okla.) High, RHPs Jesse Baird
and Tyler Sparks, could end up making a bigger impact. The
cupboard is not as bare among returning position players
as 1B Cameron Green (.362-2-22), and OFs Justin Klusak (.345-8-41)
and Houston Slemp (.324-3-31) are back.

the list for Eastern. Slemp,
a native of Tulsa Union High School, was ranked 145th. Baird
hails from Owasso High School was ranked 175th. To see the
