Story by staff (02/28/10)

The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (7-3) dropped their first decision at home and third overall this season.  Grayson County College defeated the Mountaineers 8-6 on Saturday.

Eastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, but Grayson answered back with a run in the 2nd, three in the 3rd and four in the 4th for an 8-1 lead.  Eastern scored two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and rallied for three more in the 8th to cut the lead to 8-6.  Grayson held on in the 9th inning to defeat the Mountaineers.  Tyler Vann (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, but the Mountaineer defense didn’t help him. They committed five runs that led to four unearned runs.  Joe Spring and Trent Scrivner pitched the final 5 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run.  Offensively, Houston Slemp had three hits which included a triple and his third home run of the year.  Justin Klusak was 2-5 with a double and triple and Jordan Mings homered for the third time on the season.
