Season NJCAA Poll On Wednesday the NJCAA released their first regular season baseball poll. Off to a 9-3 start, Eastern was rewarded by being ranked 23rd. The Mountaineers have played seven ranked teams in their first 10 games of the season. Eastern was not ranked in the preseason NJCAA poll, but they were one of 10 teams receiving votes. In the original poll, Eastern had a 4-1 record against ranked teams. They were 2-0 against 18th ranked Cowley County Community College and 2-1 against 22nd ranked Texarkana College. The Mountaineers also went 1-1 against Grayson County College, who moved into the poll ranked 25th this week. Eastern schedule doesn’t get any easier over the next 12 games. Seven of those opponents were either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason and first regular season polls. They will travel to Mt. Pleasant, TX and play two games against Navarro College this Saturday. Navarro is perennial strong team and they received votes in the preseason poll. A week from Saturday, the Mountaineers will travel to Carthage, TX and play three games with Panola College. Panola is ranked 19th in this week’s poll. Finally a week from Tuesday, Eastern will host Jefferson College who was ranked 13th in the preseason poll.
