MOUNTAINEER BASEBALLOffense Leads the Way as Eastern
Takes Two from Murray State The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (15-13) scored 41 runs in their two game sweep of Murray State College. The Mountaineers defeated Murray at home on Saturday 29-15. On Monday, Eastern traveled to Tishomingo and beat Murray again 12-0. With the two wins, Eastern has now won four games in a row and outscored their opponents 55-20. The 29 runs scored by the Mountaineers on Saturday was their highest total of the year. Their previous high was 23 against Coffeyville Community College. Keith Price (3-5), Houston Slemp (3-4) and Jordan Mings (3-4) each had three hits. Chris Munoz (2-2), Justin Klusak (2-5), Cameron Green (2-3) and Nathan Goodall (2-3) each had two hits. Munoz hit his 7th home run of the year, Klusak hit his 4th and Mings hit his 5th and 6th. Joe Spring (1-0) pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up his first win of the year. On Monday, Eastern defeated Murray 12-0. Trent Scrivner pitched five shout out innings and improved to 2-1 on the season. Scrivner allowed just three hits and struck out two. Tyler Vann pitched the final two innings for the Mountaineers. Vann didn’t allow a run and struck out three. Offensively, the Mountaineers scored in every inning except the 2nd. Jordan Mings doubled home Keith Price and Houston Slemp in the 1st inning. Price hit his first home run, a solo shot, in the 3rd inning. Justin Klusak was hit by a pitch, stole second base and later scored on a passed ball in the 4th inning. Slemp’s sacrifice fly scored Chris Munoz and Mings sacrifice bunt scored Price in the 5th inning. Munoz hit a sacrifice fly that scored Joe Spring in the 6th inning. Sam King and Justin Klusak each hit two run home runs and Cameron Green hit a solo home run in the 7th inning. The Mountaineers will take the field again on Thursday, April 1st.
