MOUNTAINEER BASEBALLEastern Defeats Carl Albert 5-4 The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (21-13 / 4-0) picked up their 10th straight victory with a win over Carl Albert State College on Monday. Carl Albert took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning with a two run home run off starting pitcher Brandon Marris. Eastern answered back with one run in the bottom of the 1st. Chris Munoz led off with a single and then stole both 2nd and 3rd bases. Justin Klusak’s two out single scored Munoz. Marris then held Carl Albert scoreless in his next three innings of work. Eastern tied the game in the bottom of the 4th inning when Keith Price hit his second home run of the year. Tyler Vann pitched a scoreless 5th inning and then the Mountaineers took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Houston Slemp doubled to lead off the inning and he later scored on a sacrifice fly by Price. Carl Albert hit another two run home run in the top of the 6th inning to retake the lead 4-3, but the Mountaineers came right back to tie it in the bottom of the 6th. Ben Kozma hit his first home run of the year to tie the game. Vann tossed a scoreless 7th inning and then Joe Spring (2-0) pitched a scoreless 8th inning and picked up the win on the mound. Eastern took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. Cameron Green walked with one out and scored on Slemp’s RBI triple. Munoz came on to pitch a scoreless 9th inning and pick up his 4th save of the year. On Thursday the Mountaineers will resume Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
