Mountaineers Blast Six Home Runs - Defeats Connors 20-9

With a 20-9 run rule victory over Connors State College on Wednesday, the Eastern baseball team improved to 25-14 on the year and 8-1 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play.  The Mountaineers scored the 20 runs on 13 hits, six of which were home runs.  Connors came into the game ranked #1 in the country by the NJCAA.

Offensively, Houston Slemp led the way for the Mountaineers.  Slemp was 4-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI’s.  Chris Munoz, Sam King, and Ben Kozma each had two hits.  Munoz, Kozma, Cameron Green and Nathan Goodall hit home runs.  Nathan Goodall’s was a walk off grand slam.  Jesse Baird picked up the win on the mound for Eastern.  He improved to 7-2 on the season.  Brandon Marris pitched two scoreless innings for Eastern.

Eastern and Connors will continue their series tonight (Thursday) in Warner.  First pitch will be at 7:00 pm.  Game three of the series will be in Wilburton at 1:00 pm Saturday.  The final game will be on Sunday at 1:00 pm in Warner.
