The Eastern Oklahoma State College baseball team (30-16 / 13-3) traveled to Seminole State College on Saturday.  They won the first game 12-6 and then lost the second game 14-11.  With the split, the Mountaineers remain in 1st place with a 13-3 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference record and have now won all four conference series they have played.

In the first game, Eastern jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning.  Chris Munoz led off the game with a single and then Cameron Green was hit by a pitch.  Houston Slemp stepped to the plate and hit his 15th home run of the season.  Seminole came back in the 4th inning to take a 4-3 lead, but Eastern responded with five runs in the 4th and four more in the 5th to put the game away.  In the 4th inning, Ben Kozma led off with a single and then Munoz hit his 12th home run of the season.  Next Green was hit by a pitch and Slemp singled.  Sam King singled home Green and then Jordan Mings doubled home Slemp and King.  In the 5th inning it was King and Mings again.  King added another RBI single and then Mings blasted his 10th home run of the year, a three run shot.  Brandon Marris (3-0) picked up the win on the mound.  Marris pitched five innings and allowed five runs on four hits while striking out four.  John Frisby pitched the final two frames striking out three.

Seminole jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning of game two.  Eastern scored a run in the 3rd inning when Houston Slemp singled home Justin Klusak.  Cameron Green’s 6th home run of the year, a two run shot, cut the lead to 5-3 in the 5th inning.  Seminole added a run in the 5th and then the Mountaineers took a 9-6 lead with six runs in the 6th inning.  Nathan Goodall, Chris Munoz and Green each had RBI singles.  Slemp doubled to score two and then Green scored on a throwing error.  Seminole scored five more times in the bottom of the 7th to take an 11-9 lead.  The Mountaineers tied the game again with two runs in the top of the 8th inning, but Seminole scored three more in the bottom of the 8th and Eastern couldn’t push anything across in the 9th.

Monday’s double header versus Redlands Community College has been cancelled.  Eastern will take the field again on Tuesday against Crowder College.  The two teams will play a single nine inning game in Wilburton beginning at 2:00 pm.  The Mountaineers will play their final conference series against NEO.  They will travel to Miami, OK for a 1:00 pm double header on Thursday.  The two teams will play a 1:00 pm double header in Wilburton on Saturday.  Saturday will be sophomore day, where the Eastern program will recognize all of their sophomores.
