Eastern Advances to Finals of Region 2 Tournament
Defeats NEO 2-1

The Eastern baseball team (36-19) knocked off NEO by a score of 2-1 to advance to the finals of the Region 2 Tournament.  The Mountaineers improved to 3-0 in the tournament and will now play Connors on Sunday for the Region 2 Championship.  The championship game will begin at 2:00 pm with Eastern only needing to win one game.  If Connors wins the first game, the if necessary game will begin at 5:00 pm.

Nate Coronado turned in another strong starting pitching performance for Eastern in the Region 2 Tournament.  Coronado improved to 5-2 on the year.  In eight innings of work, he allowed just one run on six hits, while striking out seven.  Jordan Mings relieved Coronado in the 9th innings.  Mings pitched a scoreless inning and picked up his second save of the year.  The Mountaineers fell behind 1-0 in the 2nd inning.  In the top of the 6th inning, Eastern tied the game in the 6th inning.  Keith Price drew a one out walk.  With two outs, Joe Spring singled before Ben Kozma singled home Price.  The Mountaineers took the lead for good in the 9th inning.  Kozma led off the inning with a double.  With nobody out, Chris Munoz hit a deep fly ball that allowed Kozma to advance to third base.  With one out, Kozma scored on a wild pitch.

Ben Kozma was 3-4 at the plate with a double run scored and run batted in.  Chris Munoz went 2-4 on the day.
