WILBURTON – Leading the nation in strikeouts is a magnificent accomplishment. Having two players from the same school in softball and baseball as the national leaders is rare. When both players are from the same high school, it is almost unheard of.

Chasing History

Marjorie JohnsonMarjorie Johnson has taken Junior College softball by storm. Johnson has her sights set on the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Time Strikeout record of 454 held by Kristen Keyes of Central Florida in 2001.

Johnson is setting on 447. Keyes recorded her total in 264 innings while Johnson has notched her in 230 innings. (5-15-06) print story FULL STORY

This morning’s other big story was Eastern Oklahoma State College (Wilburton, OK) pitcher Marjorie Johnson setting a new NJCAA record for strikeouts in a season as her #7 Lady Mountaineers team defeated #10 Blinn College (Brenham, TX), 4-1. Region II Regular Season Championship

The Lady Mountaineers Fastpitch Softball Team won the Region II regular season championship Thursday.

Eastern split their doubleheader with Northern at Tonkawa, losing the first game 2-1 in 9 innings and winning the second game 5-4. Eastern finishes Region play with a 22-6 record.
