The Eastern Oklahoma Lady Mountaineers improved their record to 11-0 with a sweep of Texarkana Tuesday, 5-0 and 9-3. This is the first time in school history to start 11-0.

Karla Pittman went the distance in the first game, striking out six and scattering three hits. Rhonda McClung led the offense going two for three. Lesley Boyd, Jaclyn Mullaney, Amy Tice and Alysha Denomy each had one hit apiece. Eastern tallied all five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The story of the second game was the long ball. Marge Johnson went two for three with two grand slams, bringing her season total to five homeruns. Johnson worked five innings before giving way to Pittman in the sixth. Johnson struck out 12, walking only two and surrendering three hits. Boyd went two for three also with two doubles, Tice added two singles in three at bats and Mullaney and Caitlyn Crotty each contributed a single.

Eastern next plays on Friday at McAlester in the Eastern Spring Softball Tournament. The Lady Mountaineers play Murray State at 9:00, Coffeyville at 10:45 and Paris at 5:45 in pool play. Bracket play begins on Saturday at 9:00.

Sunday the Lady Mountaineers return home for a 1:00 start in a three way round robin before hosting North Central Texas at 1:00 on Monday, NEO at 2:00 on Tuesday and Connors State at 2:00 on Thursday. March 11th and 12th Eastern will play in the Midwest JUCO Classic at Broken Arrow.
