Lady Mountaineer Basketball Coaching Staff

Amber Taylor - Head Coach

Amber Taylor is in her third season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Eastern. After inheriting the program in June 2010, she has worked hard to bring quality recruits to Eastern. She began her college coaching career as the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Paris Junior College from 2007-2009 and helped them reach the Region 14 Tournament. Her coaching continued at Jacksonville College as the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator from 2009-2011. During her tenure at Jacksonville, she signed Jacksonville’s No. 1 recruiting class in the history of women’s basketball and helped them reach the Region 14 Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

Taylor has recruited and coached four NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic players, four NJCAA Region 14 All-Region players, five NJCAA Texas Eastern Conference All-Conference players, and six NJCAA Texas Eastern Conference honorable-mention players. In 2009, Coach Taylor was also selected by the College Coaches Network to be a head coach at the National Junior College Top 100 event.
Last year, the Lady Mountaineers wrapped a tough 2011-12 season with a 10-21 overall record. The team finished close games several times with seven losses decided by four points or less. Highlights for the year included beating Connors State and Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa, and winning the first game of the Region II Tournament, all for the first time since 2006. The team also had the highest team offensive average since 2006 and the lowest team defensive average since 2004. Five players made the Dean’s Honor Roll and Skylar Burris was named an Academic All-American.

Coach Taylor received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology/athletic training from the University of Central Arkansas in 2003. In 2007, she received her master’s of science degree from Harding University where she served as the Graduate Assistant Coach with Women’s Basketball.
